Crash Alert: Deputies investigate fatal wrong-way crash on NE 2 in Delaware

DELAWARE, NE – According to KOLN, the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly wrong-way collision that occurred on NE 2 near NE 67 on Friday.

Tommy Aldana, 44, was heading east on NE 2 when he strayed into oncoming traffic and slammed into a westbound Toyota Sienna operated by Daniel Rys, 65, around 6 a.m.

Rescue crews pronounced Rhys dead at the scene and transported Aldana to St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, where he died. They also took a 13-year-old boy who was in Aldana’s vehicle to St. Mary’s. His current condition is unknown.

The Nebraska State Patrol assists the Otoe County Sheriff’s office by conducting the crash reconstruction.
