Crash Alert: Motorcyclist fatally collides with van in west Omaha while eluding police
OMAHA, NE – According to WOWT, a motorcyclist died in a crash while fleeing from police near S 120th St and I St on Saturday.
A trooper tried to pull over the motorcyclist because they were speeding and had no rear license plate. The motorcyclist refused to pull over and accelerated to over 110 mph on I-80 WB.
The trooper contacted Omaha Police’s Able-1 helicopter to assist in the chase.
The motorcyclist exited I-80 and then went west on L St before turning north on 120th St. They then ran a red light and slammed into a van.
Rescue crews pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene and transported two occupants of the van to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The Nebraska State Police requests that the Omaha Police Department investigate the incident.
Officials have not yet released the motorcyclist’s name.
