Crash alert: 2 dead in crash on US 83 in central Nebraska
NORTH PLATTE, NE – An accident involving two vehicles in central Nebraska Tuesday night left two men dead, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.
Authorities say it happened when a car and a semitrailer collided head-on at about 7 p.m. on U.S. 83, about 7 miles north of North Platte. The vehicles caught fire and two men inside the car were killed, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver of the truck escaped with minor injuries.
The car was heading north on the roadway when it went into the southbound lanes and into the truck’s path, according to investigators looking into the accident. The truck driver was not able to avoid the crash.
