Crash alert: 1 dead, 1 injured in rollover accident
CHADRON, NE – Authorities are investigating an accident in Dawes County Monday night that left one man dead and another injured.
News Channel Nebraska reports the incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Slim Buttes Road, northeast of the city of Chadron. Investigators said 67-year-old Mark Goings lost control of a vehicle, causing it to roll over.
Goings, of Park Ridge Reservation, was pronounced dead at the scene. His nephew, 44-year-old Tom Goings, was a passenger in the vehicle. Tom Goings was transported to a hospital in Rapid City.
There are preliminary indications that excessive speed was the cause of the accident, officials said.
