Crash alert: Woman hospitalized after car rear-ended on Highway 83
NORTH PLATTE, NE – A driver was injured when her car was struck from behind on a Lincoln County highway Tuesday morning.
News Channel Nebraska reports the accident happened at 7:51 a.m. on Highway 83 at around mile marker 64, about 15 miles south of North Platte.
Authorities say 56-year-old Christine Bourquin-Lewien of Maywood was driving a Chevrolet Spark northbound when her vehicle was rear-ended by a Buick LeSabre driven north by 24-year-old Jacob Tenbensel.
Bourquin-Lewien was taken to Great Plains Health. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. Tenbensel, of Holbrook, declined medical treatment. Investigators said his vehicle had been going at a much higher rate of speed than the Spark, which was traveling at around the speed limit.
