KEARNEY, NE – Police cited the driver involved in the crash that killed a pedestrian in northeast Kearney last month, the Kearney Hub reports.
This is an update to a previous story.
43-year-old John W. Paul of Kearney was cited for misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide. He has not yet been formally charged in the case. Police said he was driving a GMC Sierra K2500 pickup truck March 27 when he struck a mother and daughter from Kearney who were walking east on the 900 block of East 44th Street.
59-year-old Veronica Powell was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter, 19-year-old Eleanor K. Powell, was treated and released at CHI Health Good Samaritan.
Paul was released and is due back in court in June.
