Crash alert: Grand Island police searching for hit-and-run driver who struck teen on bicycle
GRAND ISLAND, NE – Police in Grand Island are trying to track down a driver who left the scene after hitting a teenager riding a bicycle, according to KHGI.
The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 281 and Capital Avenue shortly after 8:30 Monday night. Police said the driver of a flatbed Dodge pickup was making a turn onto Capital Avenue when the vehicle hit a 16-year-old boy on his bicycle. The teen suffered minor injuries and did not have to be hospitalized.
Police said the driver stopped briefly after the crash but then fled the area. A search is now underway for the vehicle involved, and police said they were able to obtain the pickup’s license plate number.
