Crash alert: Man killed, woman injured when train collides with vehicle near Salem
SALEM, NE – A train slammed into a utility vehicle in Richardson County Monday afternoon, leaving one person dead and another injured.
According to KOLN, the incident occurred at a private railroad crossing west of 645 Boulevard near Salem. Two people were inside a closed cab UTV when it was struck by the train at about 3:15 p.m. One of them, 77-year-old Ralph Burns Sr. of Salem, died at the scene. The other person, 48-year-old Brianna Holloway, was injured and transported to an area hospital. Details on her condition were unavailable. It was not clear which person was driving the vehicle at the time.
Authorities do not believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.
