Crash alert: Man facing charges in fatal head-on wreck in Buffalo County
RAVENNA, NE – A driver involved in a deadly accident in Buffalo County last March is now facing charges in the case, reports the Kearney Hub.
26-year-old Sergio Tinajero of Grand Island has been charged with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide and driving an unregistered vehicle. Tinajero was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet pickup truck when the incident occurred on U.S. Highway 2 east of Ravenna on March 19.
According to investigators, Tinajero’s vehicle was headed west when it collided head-on with an eastbound Ford SUV near the intersection with Pawnee Road at about 4:45 a.m.
A passenger in the SUV, 52-year-old Curtis Deines of Chadron, was pronounced dead at the scene. The three other people in the SUV and Tinajero were taken to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney following the accident.
Tinajero was charged in Buffalo County Court, and is due back in court next month.
