Crash alert: Pedestrian struck by hit-and-run driver on I-480 off-ramp
OMAHA, NE – Police are trying to track down a driver who struck and injured a pedestrian in Omaha early Sunday morning.
According to a release from the Omaha Police Department, officers responded to the scene at the off-ramp of Interstate 480 north and Harney Street at about 1 a.m. Investigators concluded that the driver of an SUV was exiting I-480 when the vehicle hit a pedestrian crossing 28th Street. The driver took off heading east on Harney Street without stopping to help, police said.
The pedestrian, identified as 36-year-old Brandon Bilbo, was taken to Nebraska Medicine and was listed in critical condition.
Police say the vehicle involved was a smaller SUV, and was believed to be a 2019-2022 Toyota RAV4 that is gray or Lunar Rock in color, with possible front-end damage.
Anyone with information regarding the crash was urged to contact the Omaha Police Traffic Unit or Omaha Crime Stoppers.
