Crash alert: Man sentenced in Sarpy County crash that killed truck driver
SARPY COUNTY, NE – A man has been sentenced in connection with a crash that killed a truck driver in Sarpy County last year, the Omaha World-Herald reports.
This is an update to a previous story.
19-year-old Garrett Bragg of Murdock, Nebraska was found guilty of misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide, a charge stemming from an Oct. 7, 2020 accident on Nebraska Highway 370. On Friday, he was placed on two years of probation and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service, and his license was impounded for six months.
Authorities said Bragg was driving a Chevy Equinox when he tried to make a left turn onto Wickersham Boulevard. 58-year-old Gregory Brennan of Omaha was driving a cement truck through the intersection and had a green light, while Bragg was turning at a flashing yellow light. According to investigators, Brennan swerved to avoid a collision and clipped the back of Bragg’s car. The concrete truck overturned and Brennan was killed.
In court in April, a prosecutor said Brennan’s action was “heroic”, and saved the life of the defendant.
