Crash alert: Authorities identify semi drivers killed in collision on I-80

SEWARD COUNTY, NE – Two drivers killed in a truck collision on Interstate 80 in Seward County Tuesday morning have been identified, according to KOLN.

This is an update to a previous story.

The Nebraska State Patrol said 63-year-old Lloyd Shobe of Mesa, Arizona was driving a semi eastbound near Goehner at about 11:15 a.m. when he crossed the median. Shobe’s truck struck a westbound semi driven by 48-year-old Richard Turner of Pella, Iowa.  The two semis went up in flames and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.  No other vehicles were involved.

Interstate 80 westbound was shut down for about six hours while the scene was being cleared and investigated.  The NSP is continuing to investigate the wreck.
