Crash alert: Omaha police identify victim of fatal rollover accident
OMAHA, NE – Police in Omaha say a 55-year-old man was killed when his car crashed and burst into flames Tuesday morning.
In a news release, the Omaha Police Department identified the victim as Martin P. Robinson of Omaha. Robinson was driving a Chevy Trax eastbound on the West Dodge Expressway near 192nd Street when the accident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m.
Witnesses said the vehicle drifted off the roadway, crashed into a pole, spun out and caught fire. The witnesses were able to pull Robinson out before the vehicle became fully engulfed, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Investigators said neither excessive speed or alcohol use appeared to be contributing factors in the accident. Eastbound West Dodge Expressway was shut down for about a half hour while the fire was being extinguished and the scene was cleared.
